FAQ

A NEW PARADIGM

Yes! It's a new way to offer accessible organic fruits and veggies to all people who would like to buy fresh, local, organic/spray free produce!

"But how can you offer organic produce for the same price as conventional (sprayed) produce offered by the supermarkets?"

It's very simple. We sell the produce for the same cost as we buy we buy from the farmer.

"But how do you cover the costs of your operation?"

We rely on our customers to keep operating. Basically our costs are paid for with the tip that our customers offer us. This keeps us operating and means we can keep offering affordable, organic produce - making organic food accessible to Aucklanders!

"But how do you know that the amount of tips will be enough to keep you operating?"

We're actually not sure that it'll be enough, but we strongly believe in the generosity of people and we believe that people have a strong desire for organic produce - at an accessible price. Time will tell :)

"And how do we know if the tips were enough to keep the shop going?"

We'll release monthly simple and transparent reports showing the current situation and our costs of operations vs sales and tips.

"How do I pay a tip?"

At the checkout, you can choose an amount to add on as a tip. We have a recommended amount, which we suggest to cover the cost of the operation - but please tip according to your situation! Sometimes in life we have more abundance, sometimes less, we appreciate all these aspects of life!

"So if I understand correctly? You don't take a commission, the farmers don't pay you a commission??"

Nope, no commission is taken! The price you pay just cover the farmer's selling price and the transport costs to bring the produce from the farmer to our storage. Nothing else!

"And then there's the tip - I can choose how much, if any I want to give - and this covers the cost of the business of selling - the shop, physical, virtual, the workers, the admin people, the packing, the emails, the phone bills, the marketing, the accounting, etc LOL - all the costs that a supermarket, or an online store, or a veggie box company, or a distributor tries to make --- all of that I choose how much I want to 'tip' to keep this connection operating."

Yep that's right :)

"Delivery? So I can come to the farm to pick up, or to a pick up spot, and that's free right?"

Yes! At the moment we're only offering pick up either at the farm or at our pick up spots (Gastro Parnell Market on Saturdays 8:30am-12:30pm and The Grey Lynn Farmers Market on Sundays 9am-12pm). The delivery service is going to be available in the next weeks.

"OK - so this whole business runs and grows and functions on a donation or 'tip' at the checkout section, and I can donate whatever I like?"

That's right!

"And you do this - because you want to get organic veggies to people at a price that people can actually afford?"

Yep, that's it (and a whole bunch of other reasons why organic, and small scale local organic farmers are a fantastic social change movement for the whole planet!)

"OK, I got it! I'm liking this and I'd love to help keep it going, I'll add a tip! I've told my friend about it and they love it too, but can't add a tip at the moment."

That's all good!

And so who are the farmers

Could be anyone who is growing organic or spray free fruit or veggies. If that's you, contact us and tell us how much you want to sell your produce for and we'll add it to the shop - and get it to the people!

We have a profile for each of our farmers linked to each vegetable being sold, check them, their farms, and your produce out!
